A Christmas Carol
Mr Scrooge visits us...
On December 16th, our students of 1rst and 2nd ESO watched the film A Christmas Carol. Previously, they had learnt about Charles Dickens and his works.
The film, based on the Dickens' novel is a fantastic story about the life in London in the 19th century and the differences between poor and rich people. Mr. Scrooge represents selfishness and loneliness in a time that goodness seems to be spread all over the people's heart: Christmas time. The spirits of his past , present and future life lead him to think about his relationship with the world and at the end the miracle is produced: Ebenezer Scrooge becomes a human being. A fantastic message to our students.
Robert Zemeckis, the American film director, producer and screen writer, directed this film in 2009 and it was a great succes. Other films by Zemeckis are Back to the Future (1985), Forrest Gump (1994),The Polar express (2004), Beowulf (2007) ...
After watching the film, the students were given some activities to work at classes and they made some comments on the film.

The movie is interesting, funny and entertaining.My favourite spirit is the one of Christmas Past.I like when Ebenezer Scrooge becomes a good person and he celebrates Christmas. I like this film very much, the drawings are good and they look like real people. -

A Christmas carol is about an old man, called Ebenezer Scrooge. He doesn't like Christmas, he says that Christmas is a waste of time and money. On Christmas Eve , four ghosts visit him: the first shows him his past, the second his present and the last one, his future. One of them is his death. These visits change Ebenezer and he becomes friendly and generous.I liked the film, it was interesting. Sometimes, it was difficult to understand, but not too much... -

The message is : be happy on Christmas Day . The film is about an embittered man , Mr Scrooge. After the visit of four spirits, he becomes a better person. The film is very emotional, but also funny. -

When I saw the film , I felt many emotions. Sometimes, it was funny, interesting, a little scary, and it had sad moments. I liked it very much. I think it is educative because it teaches the meaning of Christmas, but in a different way. The idea of the three spirits is original. The film is good but it has boring moments , for example when the spirit of Future pursues Mr . Scrooge. I think the best moment in the film is the end, when Mr Scrooge learns to believe in Christmas time and becomes a good person. -

The movie was okay , but sometimes it scared me. There were very , very funny moments. Scrooge was the main character an he was very bad person, he only loved money. He also hated Christmas time. On Christmas Eve, three ghosts appeared and they showed him the spirit of Christmas. Then, he understood the message and became a good person.
The movie was funny, although I couldn't watch it completely. -

I like this film because it tells the story of a man who is very selfish and rich but he pays a small salary to his employee. Three ghosts appear and one of them shows him his poor employee's life. Suddenly, Mr Scrooge becomes a kind and generous man. -

The film was great! I had seen it before, but in Spanish, so it wasn't difficult for me to understand it. It was funny to listen the film in English with the subtitles in Spanish. The film was about a bad man called Mr. Scrooge. One day, the ghost of his dead partner appeared and said that three ghosts were going to visit him. After the visit of this ghosts, Mr. Scrooge changed for better and he became the most friendly and kindest person of London.
