El fantasma de Canterville
Según el diccionario, el teatro es el género literario cuyas obras están pensadas para ser representadas ante el público. Yo lo veo como algo más importante. Para mí, el teatro es un mundo mágico que nos transporta a tiempos y lugares que nunca tendríamos la oportunidad de visitar o conocer de otro modo; que nos llena el alma de emociones y sentimientos y que, encima, se ofrece cara a cara, en directo.
El 6 de marzo pasado, el grupo de 4º B, los encaminados al bachillerato de letras, tuvimos el placer de ir a ver una obra de teatro en inglés, a San Andrés, un barrio de Barcelona. La obra se titulaba The Ghost of Canterville [adaptación de una novela de Oscar Wilde]. Cuenta la historia de una familia de americanos que se muda a un castillo inglés, a pesar de conocer una leyenda sobre el fantasma que habitaba allí. El pobre fantasma había quedado prisionero y necesitaba la ayuda de alguien para convencer a un ser superior que lo liberara y así descansar en paz. No os cuento nada más por si algún día tenéis la fortuna de ir a verla. Yo os recomiendo que la veáis. Los diálogos eran un poco difíciles, pero contando con un inglés básico y la gran interpretación de los actores, la obra se entendía perfectamente. Sobresale, sin ninguna duda, el actor que da vida al fantasma por sus movimientos atrevidos, sus gestos perplejos y rápidos, su expresión clara pero intrigante y el tono de voz que emplea. La verdad es que borda el papel.
Espero que os guste el teatro tanto o más que a mí, y que abandonéis las horas interminables ante la aburrida televisión y disfrutéis del teatro, porque, como dicen, la vida es puro teatro.

The Ghost of Canterville
Mr. Otis, Mrs. Otis and their daughter Virginia and the Twins and also their son are an American family who have bought the castle of Lord Canterville. He warned them that there was a ghost in the castle, but the family didn’t believe it and they bought the castle. The ghost wanted to throw out the family of the castle and he started to make jokes like painting a red spot and the family thought that it was blood. The ghost didn’t succeed to throw out the family and he was very sad and he started to cry.
Then, Virginia left the ghost in the Garden of Death to rest in peace. Before this, Virginia was introduced to an English lord to marry him but she didn’t want to. Her mother wanted Virginia to marry this English man because he was a lord. Whem she came back from the Garden of Death, the ghost gave her a box of jewels. Finally, she and the English lord got married.
